Reimagining a Bryan Landmark: How Koll Interiors Helped Transform The LaSalle Hotel

In the heart of Historic Downtown Bryan, The LaSalle Hotel stands as a symbol of preservation, creativity, and collaboration — and one year later, it’s still making an impact. When the opportunity arose to support the renovation of this iconic property, Koll Interiors stepped in to help elevate the design experience from a local perspective — providing commercial and hospitality furniture solutions in Bryan–College Station that blended timeless charm with modern comfort.

From Local Resource to Trusted Partner

When Marriott and their design team first reached out, Koll Interiors’ original role was to supplement the existing furniture roster — helping fill in items for guest rooms and select lounge areas. But as the project evolved, so did our partnership. What began as a small assist quickly grew into a large-scale collaboration that included speakeasy seating for the Boiler Room, main lobby furniture, dining furniture, and even outdoor furniture selections.

Our proximity to the project became a huge advantage. Being right here in Bryan–College Station (BCS) meant that Marriott’s team could visit our showroom, explore materials, review furniture finishes in person, and make fast, informed decisions — all of which were critical to meeting their tight deadline. In hospitality design, time is money, and having a local furniture dealer in Bryan–College Station allowed us to support them every step of the way.

Design Collaboration That Made a Difference

Every renovation project has challenges, and The LaSalle Hotel was no exception. We were brought in during the later stages — with limited time, specific finish constraints, and a nearly exhausted budget. But our team thrives under those conditions.

By collaborating directly with the Marriott and New Castle Hotels & Resorts design teams, we helped reselect fabrics, source from local upholsterers, and expedite manufacturing. We even handled receiving, storage, and installation logistics, including products we didn’t originally order — becoming a true turnkey furniture solution for the client.

Our ability to adapt quickly and make real-time design decisions was what made the difference. We called in manufacturer favors, pushed production schedules, and ensured every piece of hospitality furniture arrived on site ready for installation. The result? Spaces that not only met Marriott’s brand standards but exceeded expectations — from the inviting lobby seating to the timeless elegance of the Boiler Room speakeasy.

Creating Impact Beyond Design

For our team, this project wasn’t just about furniture — it was about community. As Koll Interiors Founder and Principal Zach Etheridge shared:

“For the community as a whole, having more or an abundance of elevated space, especially historic spaces, is important. We don’t have that many here. Our town [Bryan College Station], outside of the university, is not that old. There are only so many historic structures. Having those historic structures be repurposed and being done in a way that helps to attract dollars to the local economy — it allows us to continue to pursue projects like that as a community, and that is incredibly vital. It is a cycle that has to be intentionally addressed and done in the right way.”

Bryan may be a small city compared to larger metros in the Texas Triangle, but projects like The LaSalle prove that local expertise can rival national firms. By creating beautiful, functional spaces that draw people in, we’re helping ensure that downtown Bryan remains a destination — for both locals and travelers alike.

A New Name That Reflects Who We’ve Become

Formerly known as Koll Office Interiors, our recent rebrand to Koll Interiors reflects how far we’ve grown — and where we’re headed next.

While we remain deeply rooted in office furniture solutions, our scope has expanded to include hospitality, healthcare, higher education, and government projects across the Bryan–College Station region and beyond. The LaSalle Hotel is a perfect example of that evolution — where our office furniture expertise met hospitality design to create a space that functions beautifully, welcomes guests, and serves our community well.

By broadening our name, we’re acknowledging what our clients already know: Koll Interiors provides more than your typical office furniture. We provide comprehensive interior solutions that bridge design, functionality, and local impact — whether that’s an executive office, a university space, or a historic hotel lobby we want to be a Victory for you and your spaces.

Bringing Office Furniture Expertise to Hospitality Design

Although The LaSalle was primarily a hospitality furniture project, much of our expertise came from our background in office furniture design and specification. The principles are the same: creating environments where people feel comfortable, productive, and inspired to stay awhile.

From ergonomic seating to durable finishes, the same quality standards that guide our office furniture projects across Aggieland and Brazos County shaped our approach to this renovation. Whether designing a hotel lobby or a university workspace, we believe furniture should always serve both form and function — supporting how people gather, collaborate, and connect.

As Zach Etheridge, our founder and principal, shared, “We get to play a role in that by creating and setting the tone of the aesthetic to be the best that it can be for the function of that space.” It’s not a role we take lightly — especially when it comes to serving our community.

Lessons Learned — and What Comes Next

Being part of this project reaffirmed why local matters. From expedited delivery to on-the-fly design problem-solving, our ability to be physically present and accessible made the difference. We learned that strong partnerships, adaptability, and a shared vision can turn even the tightest deadlines into success stories.

As we look ahead, Koll Interiors continues to bring that same servant hearted and community-focused design approach to commercial, education, and hospitality projects across Bryan College Station and the greater Brazos Valley.

If your next project needs more than just furniture — if it needs a team that listens, understands design, logistics, and local impact — Koll Interiors is here to help you get to the finish line in style.
